Carl recently moved to Yellow Springs from Brooklyn and I have enjoyed getting to know him since we became acquainted early in the new year. He is a talented artist who appreciates deeply how important art is in our lives. I first noticed a Facebook post of Carl’s about his virtual art gallery called NOURISH which promoted a couple of artists he represents. His post captured my attention so I read it thoroughly and eagerly, clicking on the link to his website. Carl’s writing about the art and the artist who created it, both for his Facebook post and his website, were brilliant enough for me to ask for a meeting in person a few days later. Our first meeting went well enough that we meet up regularly to discuss ideas. We’ve pondered projects and made plans for inside and outside of Three Ten. Carl has interior design knowledge and experience which helped improve the form and function of the rooms throughout the house. The first project focused on the B & B foyer and parlor rooms downstairs, editing down to a less is more styling and balance of furniture and art. Working together we got a lot done, but there’s a lot more to do, ponder and plan in the future. I am grateful to call Carl a good friend, one I can admire and respect in a “more better” 2023.

The paintings of Carl Barnett address the equanimity of living life and being human: beauty and the perfectly imperfect. Where we’ve been, where we are, where we’re going, and who we are.

The dialogue between the painting and the person is imperative in experiencing his work. It is, through the creative mind, Carl believes, that we thrive, telling our stories and easing our being human.
